In case you missed the Microsoft Ignite 2018 conference and wanted to catch up on some of the latest features and functionality in development at Microsoft, we have summarized 5 notable items.  These are estimated to be available to  Microsoft Office 365 targeted release customers in 2019.  More details will follow from Microsoft in the near future as their development continues (on which we will keep you updated).

#1: Hub Sites – Mega Menus

One of the new SharePoint Online features coming in 2019 will be a new Hub Site navigation styling that allows you to organize your links using a mega menu.  This will allow for multiple hierarchy levels vs the single drop down headings currently available.

#2: Hub Sites – Admin Centre

The SharePoint Admin Centre will now include additional settings that allow you to manage your Hub Sites.  This will include the ability to create a new Hub Site, associate Site Collections to Hubs, as well as some built in reporting.

#3: Web Parts – Personalized Content

There will be a new Personalized Web Part which will allow for dynamic display of content that is targeted to the current browsing user.  Some of the content will include documents, news, and frequently accessed sites.

#4: Web Parts – Audience Targeting

New SharePoint Online features were also announced that will allow for greater dynamic highlights of content depending on the current browsing persona.  These additional audience targeting settings will apply to the latest Web Parts available in the Modern experience which includes news, pages and other web parts.

#5: Headers / Footers

The next customization available to your Modern experience for Site Pages will be the ability to modify the Headers / Footers without customizations. The Header feature will allow you to choose from predefined styles – including standard, minimal, and compact – to change the amount of space your content will take up.  The Footer feature will also allow you to put your standard links and information you wish to highlight at the bottom of your pages without the need for custom Master Pages.
