Welcome to the Microsoft 365 Newest Updates series. Every week, we do our best to sift through the most important Message Center updates into an easy-to-digest format so you’re always up-to-date.
With that out of the way, let’s get started:
Removing the Title Region Gradient
Up until now, site admins would have to deal with gradients on images when adding them to the title region of a page. No longer! Rollout beginning in Mid-August and finishing by late August, a new option in the header section will be available: “Show background gradient”.
Simply set that to no, and say goodbye to that awful gradient.
Disable Sub-Site Creation for the Tenant
For the longest time, users have been able to create subsites even with admins doing their best to avoid users doing so. Currently, admins could only remove the option from the site, but that still allowed some (un)informed users to find ways around that and continue to create sub-sites. This would, of course, cause unnecessary sprawl and limit the discoverability of content.
With rollout starting at the beginning of September and completing by mid-October, a new option in the SharePoint site admin will replace the “Hide Subsite command” option. “Disable subsite creation for all sites” will remove the option from the UI and disable the API that creates subsites, so any workarounds users have discovered will no longer work.
Enjoy, Admins. Your lives just got a little easier. Ensure you’re planning your hub sites correctly and users will never notice they’ve lost this feature.
